The Austrian Lakes

Best time: July & August

Nestling amongst the mountains near Salzburg, we find some of the most beautiful lakes in the world and a veritable cycling paradise. Following some of the many cycling routes, we weave our way through the mountains and valleys and explore famous locations such as Hallstadt and Bas Ischl on Austria's famous Romantic Road.

Whether you prefer a gentle or more demanding tour, we'll design a specific itinerary that meets your needs and preferences. Accommodation will be selected to meet your budget and may include hostels, pensions and hotels. For the truly adventurous, we also provide a range of high-quality Terra Nova tents and bivis.

The Danube

Best time: June to September

Running from from the Atlantic coast of France to Constanța on the Black Sea, the Euro Velo 6 cycling route is one of the most popular in Europe. Whilst it runs the entire length of the Danube, our interest is on the stretch between Passau in Germany and the Hungarian capital, Budapest. One of the principle attractions of this route is that it's flat and therefore suitable for riders of all levels.

We often combine tours of the Austrian lakes with the section of the Danube that runs from Linz to Vienna and beyond. This takes in another part of the Romantic Road including the stunning Wachau region - a must for wine lovers.

The Hungarian Lakes

Best time: May to October

Be it Fertő (Neusiedl), Velence, Tisza or the magnificent Lake Balaton, Hungary isn't short of lakes or glorious weather. There's also a long stretch of the Danube for those who prefer to cycle by rivers and who wish to sample the delights of Budapest.

Based in Hungary, we have deep knowledge of the country's cycle touring possibilites. Whilst it doesn't offer the range of safe cycling that can be found in Austria, the upside is that many of the routes are less congested, harking back to an era when cycling on country roads was one the ultimate velo pleasures.
